Highway Accident Causes Temporary Disruption on Sangli-Kolhapur Route

A late-night road accident on the Sangli–Kolhapur highway caused temporary disruption on Tuesday when a speeding sedan collided with a stationary truck near a sharp bend. According to police, traffic stopped moving slowly as emergency crews managed the scene, with vehicles inching forward under controlled diversions.

Officials said the traffic disruption was stabilized in an hour, and no fatalities were reported. Authorities have begun an inquiry to assess whether low visibility or driver fatigue contributed to the incident.

Local commuters and frequent travelers along the highway have long identified this specific stretch near the sharp bend as a high-risk zone, particularly during the late evening hours when lighting is sparse.
